With most respect to the 100 Canadian soldiers that have died in the Afghanistan conflict, I felt a poster should be designed to commemorate their valour and sacrifice to their country – Canada. 30 Reasons is a 30-day email and internet campaign to encourage people to vote for Barack Obama. The goal is simple: Use design to build a logical, multi-faceted argument for Obama and make it easy to share each reason with another person. I am delighted to have been the only Canadian designer invited to participate in this online exhibition, which hopefully will bring an end to the past 8 years of the Bush Administration insanity.
Oct 18 – Nov 2 will find me on an extensive tour of Latin America starting in Santiago, Chile at the Universidad Diego Portales. They are kindly hosting a solo exhibition of my posters at the Faculty of Architecture, Art & Design. October 25-27 onto Mexico City for the International Biennial of the Poster in Mexico for two exhibitions. Oct 28 Puebla as special guest of the Design Conference hosted by Mexico’s designer “Chepe”. Oct 29-30 I will be teaching at the Universidad Veracruzana in Xalapa, Mexico as part of the International Design Encounter.
The Pécsi Galéria in Hungary has invited Andrew Lewis as the only North America poster designer to be included in the exhibition: “Culture And…” The exhibition runs Oct 3-30, 2008.
Modern Advertising Magazine from Beijing is China’s leading and largest publication of design and adversting. Issue # 2008.7 features the work of Andrew Lewis Design (first Canadian designer selected) including the cover image which was a poster designed for the 2007 FIFA China’s World Cup soccer.
This one came out of nowhere folks, a poster for the Tokyo Rockabilly Club gig poster. But truly, nothing makes me smile more than a bunch of Japanese cool-cats decked out in rock and roll leather dancing publicly with each other.
Stevens Exhibit Design & Signs located in London, Ontario commissioned a poster and graphic to celebrate and market their 80th anniversary. I was equally delighted to discover it in the Jan/Feb issue of Communication Arts Magazine issue featuring the posters from the Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition.
This is the second poster and collateral materials I have designed for Vancouver’s Twenty Something Theatre which features Kirsten Kilburn, and directed by Sabrina Evertt at the Beaumont Studios running January 29-February 3, 2008.
I was sent this notice by Elizabeth Resnick of The Graphic Imperative showing my poster on the front cover of the LA Times newspaper entertainment section. The exhibition is a forty year retrospective of international sociopolitical posters, I am honoured to have my “IMPUNIDAD”poster featured.
Opening October 22, 2007 at the National Museum of Cuba in Havana, I am delighted to have my poster included as part of the ICOGRADA Conference. The original invitation and request came from the prominent Cuban designer Hector Villaverde.
